Kane Cornes has put the heat on two-time Brownlow Medal winner Nat Fyfe and questioned his future at the Fremantle Dockers.
Fyfe won the league’s highest individual medal in 2015 and 2019 and has been one of the highest earning players in the competition over a number of years.
According to reports he pocketed more than $1.2 million from the Dockers last year, then reportedly took a significant pay cut when he signed on for 2024 and 2025.

Now 32 years old, Cornes isn’t sure Fyfe should even be making the team anymore.
On Nine’s Footy Classified on Monday he played several snippets of vision that highlighted Fyfe being outplayed by Port Adelaide star Jason Horne-Francis at the weekend.

“I said this probably 10 weeks ago, it was obvious they needed to move past Nat Fyfe,” Cornes said.
“Look at this against a younger, more explosive midfielder (in Horne-Francis), this is where Fyfe lets himself down. He is no longer that powerful player.
“These are the players Fyfe has to go with… Horne-Francis makes him look silly, and then there’s the ball handling errors.
“If his name was Will Brodie, if his name was James Aish, and not Nat Fyfe, there is no way he is playing in this team.

“The only reason he’s been picked to play in the this game is his reputation and his resume.
“He’s not in your best midfield, no way. They’ve got to move past that.”
While Fyfe was once in the best couple of players in the entire competition, he has not made an All Australian team since 2019 and hasn’t collected any major accolade since then either.
He relinquished the club captaincy in 2022.
Fremantle fell one win short of playing AFL finals this season.
